Reuel builds lasting performance into all of our apparatus bushings. In our manufacturing process, the conductor is molded directly into the bushing body using techniques that ensure a positive seal against leakage of insulating fluid in the apparatus whether it is gas or liquid. Bushings designed for air-insulated applications have sufficient creepage distances for use in hostile environments such as coastal areas and locations with excessive dust and other airborne contaminants or chemical vapors. All our bushings are inspected using real time X-ray, and must pass thermal cycling tests.

Bushings designed for overhead system applications are generally more rugged and mechanically stronger than similar products made of porcelain because they do not suffer from the same inherent tracking problems if subjected to arcing faults as porcelain bushings. Apparatus bushings used for connections in underground distribution systems must be especially rugged to hold up to the mechanical loads imposed by separable connectors and heavy cables.

Apparatus bushings are available in several styles and configurations for overhead or underground distribution systems. Bushings used for underground distribution systems applications are available in 200 amp and 600 amp ratings and are also produced in deadbreak and loadbreak configurations. These bushings and bushing wells are suitable for connection with separable connectors per IEEE Standard 386 and are fully compliant with that standard.
